More comments about Great Curries:

As Si and Dave show us – a curry can be a superbly fragrant dish, with delicate flavours  and the Hairy Bikers show us how to cook delicious, authentic curries.

In the book, Si and Dave cook many brand-new recipes from around the world.

Recipes are developed with the tips, techniques and secrets Si and Dave have discovered on their travels in Asia as well as years of cooking curries themselves.

There is a run of new curry books just published by well known chefs.

Atul Kochar, Rick Stein, Madhur Jaffrey and the Hairy Bikers.

All great chefs – so it will be very interesting to compare recipes and cookbooks.

NEW: The Hairy Bikers’ Great Curries cook book

Back to this evenings episode – Comfort food – OH yes we like our pies…don’t we?

So the challenge this week is to get the calories in a typical pork pie down to under the normal 700.

With the dangerous fat, the visceral fat burning off, the duo need to reduce their intake of calories further and the exercise routine now includes bikes. Not motor bikes but the pedal variety. Oh dear me.

Watching the guys try cycling and it is such fun. They have dropped of the booze and are finding that hard. The calories in drink are the factor here although alcohol intake should be limited anyway. The follow the doctor on their bikes out into the country.

The doc takes their blood pressure and it turns out to be super low, they take medication for blood pressure, but no more?

In Dave’s home town of Barrow the pair try and re educate the locals in Indian curry houses and Chinese takeaway to accept lower fat ingredients in their Kormas.

Watch on BBC iplayer…Episode guide on BBC iplayer. Episode 2 is funny – yet serious.
