Oz Clarke and Hugh Dennis set us up for Christmas with Oz and Hugh drink to Christmas. Sunday 9 December 2012 at 9.00 pm Good Food.
This programme was first broadcast in 2009 on BBC2. (Oz and Hugh drink to Christmas).
In the repeat of this pre Christmas warm up, our wine expert Oz Clarke and well known actor and comedian Hugh Dennis meet in a challenge to sample every Christmas tipple past and present.
A valiant effort where the two try to uncover each drink’s true credentials – from whisky and winter ales in the Scottish Highlands, to mulled wine in the birthplace of Dickens, wassail in the West Country and sloe gin in Wiltshire, as well as port, sherry and snowballs. They explore the weird and wonderful customs that surround each drink – and expose some as complete festive fakes. Once they have enjoyed their jolly, Oz and Hugh take their mobile bar to the streets of London to find out which drink deserves to be named Britain’s first official Christmas tipple.
Yes great crack and remember to have fun, but careful with the measures.
